About an Ahupuaʻa by Lucas and Aidan L.

An ahupuaʻa is a strip of land from the mountain to the ocean, or the uka to the kai. Everyone living in the ahupua'a has resources that they need to survive, like food, water, and shelter. Also, they had fishponds for fish which was food, lo'i for taro which is also food, and streams of water which was used for people to drink.

In the mountains you would find a waterfall. In the ocean you would find fish, fishponds, surfers, sharks, canoes with people, and coral. On the land you would find people, loʻi, hālēs, streams, plants, trees, and a beach. In the sky you would find birds, clouds, the sun or the moon, sometimes rain, and rarely, hail. And that is all you have to know about an ahupua'a.

The whole nature study class individually worked on a poster of an ahupuaʻa. We got to put fishponds, loʻi, waterfalls, mountains, houses, fish and sharks, and most importantly, a stream. And what ahupuaʻa wouldn't have people to harvest, catch fish, surf, eat, drink, build, and plant?
